Platt Retail Institute Index reports digital signage growth
Positive findings revealed in Q1 2010 North American digital signage index
Positive momentum in capital expenditures and ad spending on digital-out-of-home (DOOH) networks were key components in the findings of the latest Platt Retail Institute (PRI) North American Digital Signage Index.
The Index tracks the current level of business/industry activity, as well as changes in the anticipated industry outlook.
Sector growth positive
The current Index increased from 113.76 in the third quarter of 2009 to 115.53 in the fourth quarter of 2009, a 1.56% increase. Of the nine Index components, capital expenditures and ad spending on DOOH networks registered the greatest gains, while selling prices and screens deployed by networks declined the most.
The near-term DS Index was 134.10, a 16.07% increase in sentiment over the next three-to-six months versus the fourth quarter 2009. This is down slightly from the revised 18.02 percent increase in the near-term DS Index for the third quarter 2009. Of the nine Index components, capital expenditures and ad spending on DOOH networks again registered the greatest gains, while revenue and industry business activity were the slowest growth components.
